By far the most common of these are the U3G . These are very consistent in quality and are generally mellower than new Yamahas. The “X” series are identified by an “X shaped” back bracing. This doesn’t seem to be an improvement on the usual bracing which continued to be produced. The “X” series varies more in quality than the earlier G and H series. We have listed the pre 1995 models. After about this date, the models hugely increase in variety become difficult to track with regards to which country they were made in and what the quality is. We have also listed current models.

Yamaha U3H and U3G upright pianos had the longest production run of all Yamaha U3 upright pianos. They have a rich warm tone and a medium touch. Yamaha U3H  upright pianos are very consistent in quality; any fine regulation or other work we find necessary is carried out in our workshop before sale. We regard the Yamaha U3H  some of the best modern uprights ever made. They are used extensively by top musicians.
